All this month, I've been writing about communication technology as we celebrate Effective Communications Month and tomorrow is the anniversary of the 1st presidential radio speech. On June 14th, 1922, President Warren G. Harding, while addressing a crowd at the dedication of a memorial site for the composer of the "Star Spangled Banner," Francis Scott Key, becomes the first president to have his voice transmitted by radio. Technology has come a long way since then, and today, anyone can have a radio show expressing their political, religious or other views thanks to the communication technology called TalkShoe. If you've been a blog reader for a while, you might remember that I used to have a weekly internet radio show called Grace Talk Soup. I...
Today is my son's 13th birthday and I had planned to dispense with my usual discussion of communication to share a little bit about him with my readers. Here's part of what I had planned to share. This is a very fuzzy picture of him winning the Youth Cart Racing League over at K1 Racing. He holds the undefeated title of fastest lap ever at that location in all the years they have been open. This includes some professional race car drivers! I'd already shared about my daughter's recent college graduation so I thought I'd give equal time to my son. I had planned to share my son's incredible sense of humor and how he had inspired some of my latest...
Usually I have Friday Funnies on my blog, but in honor of the anniversary of Ronald Reagan's death this week, I wanted to share a little known piece of his life: his childhood. Note how his character was formed at an early age and how he began to train for his title, The Great Communicator.

Others think it’s manners, etiquette or social graces. Merriam Webster defines communication as “an act or instance of transmitting,” “information transmitted or conveyed,” “a verbal or written message,” “exchange of information,” “personal rapport,” or their most comprehensive definition, “a process by which information is exchanged...
Did you know that June is Effective Communications Month? I wrote about it last week on my Examiner column. Since communication technology has changed so much in the past few decades, I'm going to be writing articles on my column about the influence of each type of communication technology and how you can best take advantage of it. To kick off Effective Communications Month here on the blog, I am starting off with another quarterly contest! This one is a YouTube Contest. Here's how it works: 1. Go to the Art of Eloquence channel on YouTube and subscribe (if you are not already a subscriber). 2. Write a comment on any one of the videos you like. 3. Come back here and leave...
