You won't agree with everyone, but how you disagree is important

These days we are divided politically, religiously, and in many other ways.  Is that bad? Not necessarily.   Disagreements can be the beginning of understanding. It can be the beginning of knowledge as well.  If you are never around people with whom you disagree, you will never be challenged. Disagreements are a great way to learn about how other people think and understand the world. How Important Are Communication Skills...REALLY?

Truth Series: Character

One of the most important Truth Markers is something you may not have if you don't know the person well enough.  However, if you do, it's not only a critical truth marker, but something you'd do well to keep in mind in case there is a mistake made.  A person's character is vital to being able to tell if someone might be telling the truth because, as you might guess, if the person is a known liar, you'd do well not to trust anything they say.  If the person has been known to tell an untruth a time or two, you'd be better off looking for confirmation before blindly accepting something he says or posts.   However, if you know the...

Truth Marker Series: Consistency

The first two truth markers I talked about last month were humbleness (does the author claim to be some big wig or just someone who happens to know?) and fair and balanced (did the author exaggerate or write a one sided piece?).  This month, I'd like to share a third way you can tell if someone is probably telling the truth: consistency.  This actually has a few parts to it.   1.
