Skit Guys funny video

Monthly Funny: Each month this year, I'll try to find you a fun, humorous, and educational video or meme or article on one aspect of speech communication skills.  This month, I'd like to share one I posted several years ago.  This talks about how difficult it can be to speak in grace, especially when dealing with little kids.  Both grace and patience are needed for this communication act. So without further ado...here are The Skit Guys YouTube video called "Grace, We Just Don't Get It."  Enjoy the giggles this month!  Feel free to post a comment with any videos you found that use humor to share an important communication lesson.

The Influence of Texting

This month, I'd like to share my thoughts on the dangers of smart phone obsession and how it affects our relationships, but in order to fully understand that article which I'll share next week, I'd like to first draw your attention to an article I wrote several years back on the influence of texting on communication.   Texting, emailing, and easy access to various forms of electronic media are a handy tool in the technological age.  However, in my experience, it has become more than a tool to most and has greatly degraded the effectiveness of modern society's communication.  In addition, it has produced a people who are less concerned with truth than convenience and more concerned with being connected than making...

We may not always be able to see things as others do, but we have one powerful verse that tells us what we can do to be effective when we communicate...

How to Handle a Discouraging Word

Last week I wrote part one of A Discouraging Word.  This week, I'd like to share how we might more effectively handle those who have a discouraging word for us. 1. Smile and wave boys, just smile and wave This is a line from the penguins of Madagascar my son loves to watch, but it is also a great way to handle those who have an occasional discouraging word.  If Ursula Uplift doesn't usually present a problem in this area, you might just want to smile and wave.  Just brush it off.  It's easier to do this with someone who doesn't always sing that tune.  If you find that you are too tired to discuss the matter, you don't have...
