Dear God, about being old...

Last week, I turned 48 and began receiving all manner of old folk's emails and videos, as well as mailers from AARP, The Scooter Store, and Hoverround! This is Mary Maxwell, 72 y/o new client of a program called Home Instead, giving the invocation at a dinner.  Her prayer is delivered with such comedic talent, I had to post it here. It's over 7 minutes, but well worth your time! I admire her attitude and comedic timing as well as her deadpan facial expressions which make the delivery of such timeless humor a joy to watch.

Isn’t she a hoot? Gotta love her!

I’ve seen this before. She is something else!!! I love her statement that, “I’ve never been this old before!” Yeah, me, too. ROFLOL Puts a new perspective on aging, doesn’t it? I’m way older than you, as you well know, and guess what? Some days I feel 90 and some days, I don’t feel any different than I did when I was 16. . . or 21. . . or 35. . . or some other remarkable age. As they say. . . “It’s mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it don’t matter!”

She’s wonderful! I also identify with several things she said….don’t have most of the signs of getting old yet, but have seen them with my parents. And like Carla, some days I wonder how I got so old while other days I still run circles around those half my age. This was wonderful! I loved the phrase you don’t get to practice being old….it just creeps up on you. Perhaps if I keep going so quickly, it won’t be able to catch me to creep up on me! LOL! Thanks for sharing it, JoJo.
