Survey: Do You Like Valentine's Day?

There is so much hype about Valentine's Day, but I know several people who really don't like to feel forced to celebrate. It feels too commercial or they feel it's too much pressure to be memorable.

I was wondering if it really did communicate love at all anymore or if it was just a day couples felt they needed to celebrate or their partner/spouse would feel left out.

Do you think Valentine's Day communicates love? Or do you feel it's too forced/commercial?  Here's a little survey. Please share your thoughts.

1. Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? Why or Why not?

2. Is Valentine's Day meaningful to you?

3. What would make Valentine's Day meaningful to you?

4. Do you think Valentine's Day really communicates love?

5. Do you believe Valentine's Day is too forced?

    1. Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Why or Why not? No, we consider it another “Hallmark Holiday”.
    2. Is Valentine’s Day meaningful to you? Not at all.
    3. What would make Valentine’s Day meaningful to you? Unless we had a child born that day (unlikely, we are DONE having kids), can’t think of anything.
    4. Do you think Valentine’s Day really communicates love? No. You should do nice things for people you love all the time, not on one specific day when you are told you must. I also think all the hype makes single people feel bad.
    5. Do you believe Valentine’s Day is too forced? Yes indeed.
However, we have two teenaged sons, and we have made it very clear to them that when they are dating a young lady, they will probably need to “do” Valentine’s Day. Not all ladies are as unromantic as their mom. I also told them that if the young lady in question is one demanding diamonds or other ridiculously expensive things for Valentine’s, they might want to consider looking somewhere else.

Valentine’s Day is very special for us as we were married on February 14th, 2003. It was very romantic and we always look forward to doing something special for our day!
