National Good Neighbor Day

It's National Good Neighbor Day! What comes to mind when you think of a good neghbor?  Well, if you're old enough to remember him, it's Mr. Rogers. Here is his intro over the years from the early days of black and white television to more recent times.   When I was a kid, back in the Middle Ages LOL, I knew all my neighbors. We played together, had block parties... Now nobody knows their neighbors anymore.  So sad that we have lost our back fense chats.  Everyone is so busy these days that nobody takes the time we used to take in order to communicate, help and get involved with each other's lives.  Maybe it's time we started being a good neighbor. How can we be a better neighbor?  Please share your thoughts. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ If you liked this post, read…Seven Reasons Why YOU Should Sign Up for the Art of Eloquence Newsletter!

So true! I’ve lived here almost 10 years and I only know two or three of them. Of course, we all have 5-acres by ordinance so it’s not like the homes are close. Still, it seems such a shame. We wave to each other when we pass in the street; that’s about it. I grew up on a Philly block where everybody knew everybody else and the kids all played together, adults got together, etc. If someone was having a to-do in their yard, you could walk right in and nobody would think anything of it. Considering there were about 60 houses on each side of the block, it got pretty lively at times!

That’s how I grew up in NY too. I sure miss that feeling of being a neighborhood.
