Everyone Who's Anyone is an Expert. Aren't You?

Oh that’s a good point. I forgot about the folks they sometimes dig up to talk about some news issue. My dh is often frustrated by the fact that he knows more than the so-called economic experts on TV. In fact, he is often frustrated when calling to get information he needs only to find the departments they send him to for expert advice don’t know as much about the issue as HE does. Several years ago we paid dearly (and drove “farly”) for my dd to take a class for college prep. SHE knew more than the instructor did. The instructor had her share with the class!

Have you seen all the so-called “experts” on the 24-hour news networks now? As soon as some “crisis” hits, they scramble to find anybody who ever spent 5 minutes thinking about that type of scenario and pull him into the studio where he then appears on your screen as an “expert” in this or that. Since almost everyone wants to have his 15 minutes of fame, there is no shortage! There is an old joke that defines expert as “an ex is a has-been and a spurt is a drip under pressure!” Sure fits some of these folks! Wonder what would happen if a “REAL” expert came along?

Thank you Adam. Cindy, if you aren’t an expert, you are so close! I have heard about the wondrous things you have done for your students and I have heard them sing!

Good points JoJo – It is VERY overused – everyone is an expert – It’s funny – even though I have a degree in music – I STILL feel as if I’m NOT an expert! I have much experience which makes me a good educator – but expert? No way!

I have to admit that this is the first blog post I have read on your site. Very interesting. I’ll be reading some more after I post this.
