What's your unique talent?

Monday Q of the Wk. Here’s how it works: Each Monday I ask a thought provoking question about life.  Pose the same question to your blog readers on your own blog along with your answer to the question.  Then come back here and post a comment with a link to your blog post so we can all read everyone’s answers!  It’s been a lot of fun getting to know my readers and their readers and so on and so on… This week’s question: What is your unique God given talent? The Lord gives each of us a unique talent that He wants us to use for His glory.  He gives different talents to different people. To some He gives a precious voice, to others the gift of comedy.  I've posted several examples of precious talent God gives His children lately here on Communication FUNdamentals. This is called Bach Duo.  It's truly amazing!  What's your unique talent and how are you using it to express yourself and for the glory of God? JoJo’s Answer: My unique talent is finding the humor in things.  I am very punny!  I love to make folks laugh.  My son will come to me often and shout, "Say something funny!"   My friend Carla has been bugging me for years to post some YouTube videos.  I have a secret desire to be a stand up comedian, but since I'm getting older, I might do it sitting down! What's your unique talent? You can post your answers here or post this question on YOUR blog and come back here to link your blog post so all of us can read about YOUR readers!

Interesting question to me as I have been pondering these past couple of weeks the concept of ‘genius. We generally think of genius as someone with a high IQ, when the word stems from a Latin root meaning ’natural inclination’.

I personally believe we all have a God-given genius part of us, i.e., unique talent. For some of us we have to dig it out and nurture it. For many, we probably don’t even realize it because it’s such a natural part of who we are and we’re likely to assume it’s no big deal.

It pays to ask the Lord, if you’re not sure, what is that unique thing he has put within you. I’ve asked, and am still asking God to reveal more to me what ‘genius’ he has put in me.

One thing I know is that I do have a unique talent with photography. Even though there are a gazillion people who can take pretty pictures, I know the ability he has given me goes beyond seeing just what is evident to the natural eye. I can actually ‘see’ further into whatever or whomever I’m photographing.

Go for the stand-up comedian JoJo! I know there’s a venue out there for you somewhere. I’m chuckling now as I’m remembering how you had them in stitches at the mother-daughter event we did.

Oh Joan! God gave you such an amazing talent for photography that goes well beyond taking good pictures! Even at that, you are the only one who has even photographed me where I truly liked the way I came out! Check it out folks! That picture up there is the one I’m referring to. Only one ever taken of me since toddlerhood that I really liked!

Good question and I like Joan’s response. I’ll have to ponder this one. Joan is a brilliant photographer. I will definitely agree to that. And, yes, JoJo, you would make a great stand-up comedian, no questions asked. You are easily as good as most of the pros out there, probably better (not to mention cleaner!). You should definitely go for it!!! As for me, I’ll probably be right behind the curtain editing your material. ROFLOL

Well I would say – that first and foremost I am a musician – singing and playing the piano are my special talents – but I am also very funny and can find the humor in ANYTHING like you, JoJo!
