While I wish I could speak words to my dad now, I’m glad that I have and did when he was alive. I’m glad I didn’t leave any words unspoken or unwritten. I wrote a letter to him when he was very ill with Parkinson’s Disease and my mother read it to him. He hardly spoke at that time but said with amazement, “She wrote those about me?” and then he cried. That was days before I spoke to him on his deathbed and he could no longer speak or understand much. I was glad that I used words to honor him. It was such a beautiful thing. JoJo, I agree and encourage other readers to follow your advice on this. My dad and I were not close most of my life but words brought us back together-forever.
