Words: It's what's for Father's Day this year!

This Father's Day, instead of giving Dad a tie or a soap on a rope, why not give him the gift of appreciation?  Why not communicate with him and tell him how much you love him and what he has done all these years that has made you who you are?  Why not share who you are with him and make him feel special. I bet he'll think it is the best gift you ever gave him!  Even taking into account the year you made him a tie with your own tie dye!!  And, especially in this economy, it's affordable too!! Want a unique and special gift for Dad this year?  Tell him exactly what he means to you! Words...it's what's for Father's Day this year! While I wish I could speak words to my dad now, I’m glad that I have and did when he was alive. I’m glad I didn’t leave any words unspoken or unwritten. I wrote a letter to him when he was very ill with Parkinson’s Disease and my mother read it to him. He hardly spoke at that time but said with amazement, “She wrote those about me?” and then he cried. That was days before I spoke to him on his deathbed and he could no longer speak or understand much. I was glad that I used words to honor him. It was such a beautiful thing. JoJo, I agree and encourage other readers to follow your advice on this. My dad and I were not close most of my life but words brought us back together-forever.
