Sharing Your Faith

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" 1Peter 3:15

Most Christians feel led to share their faith, but they are either afraid to do so or they just don't know how. Others do so boldly, but are unsuccessful in reaching souls and even drive the unchurched further away from God.  There is an art to sharing your faith: The Art of Eloquence!

The problem has always been that God didn’t make cookie-cutter people and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to sharing the faith.  Folks have questions and misconceptions that need to be addressed on an individual basis.

Most approaches rely on an opening scripture, tract, phrase or question However, as any child who grew up in a non-Christian home knows, this not only doesn't speak to most unbelievers, it actually can push them away from God.  This is precisely why an individual approach that involves becoming friendly and helpful is usually the best way to win souls for Christ.  The problem with that is...it requires much more communication skill than most people have been taught!

Sharing your faith requires even more effective communication skill today than in years past! Why?  Because the world is even more secular and much more intolerant of Jesus! If you've ever shared a scripture on Facebook, you probably soon found someone who took exception or offense and engaged you in a battle you weren't prepared for.  If you ever tried to invite coworkers to a Bible study, you probably found a manager who took you aside and told warned you not to proselytize in the office. News reports of business owners being sued for not baking a cake for a homosexual wedding and stories of how someone practically hit their neighbor over the head with the King James Bible have produced a distaste (to use a more mild word) for those who discuss Jesus Christ.

Sharing your faith doesn't have to be a battle of wits or a something resembling a mugging.  It can be as natural as any other discussion if you know how to answer some basic questions.

More effective communication skill will allow you to:

* Confidently answer questions about Jesus
* Avoid conflicts and arguments when you share God's Word
* Overcome the fear.
* Build your own faith as you understand that God's Word really IS consistent with science and does not contradict itself
* Feel more comfortable when people disagree with you
* Comfortably share the basis for your Christian, conservative political beliefs with others
* Help win more souls for Christ Jesus!
