Day 9: Barlow Girl’s Hallelujah Light Has Come

Next on the countdown is Barlow Girl with Hallelujah (Light Has Come). The song asks us to praise to God on high, hallelujah a savoir comes for us! To save us now. Hallelujah light has come!

A promise for those who believe. Do you believe?

If you’ve been listening to these beautiful songs, but you don’t believe in Jesus, now would be a great time to find out what He is all about. Jesus gave up His heavenly home to come to earth and be tortured and die for us. He rose again and He is saving a place for you and me…if we only believe.

Day 8: Heart of Christmas

The video countdown continues with Matthew West and Heart of CHRISTmas!

This is it’s second year on the countdown. I just found this song last year and I loved it. It speaks to what is at the heart of what CHRISTmas is all about.

This is what we all strive to remember as Christians. It’s why I continue to spell it CHRISTmas. It reminds me to make sure I put Christ back in my CHRISTmas.

I’ll be back tomorrow with another video in the countdown to CHRISTmas. Until then…

Day 7: North Point Church’s iBand Christmas

CHRISTmas is a great time to infuse a bit of fun into your life.

Today is Friday Funnies so I wanted to share with you a fun way to celebrate CHRISTmas today. People are always coming up with fun new technological ways to praise the Lord, especially at CHRISTmastime and this church is no exception. This is incredibly creative!

Here is the North Point Church iBand with an all iPhone and iPad CHRISTmas medley! Enjoy!

Have a blessed and fun day today. Tomorrow our countdown will continue. Until then…

Day 6: Trans Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas in Sarajevo

Day six brings us to our laser light show. This is CHRISTmas in Sarajevo by the Tans Siberian Orchestra. Another one of my favorites.

This is one of the better light shows as it blinks along to the music perfectly.

I love the crescendo and the strong finish! Sometimes I’m in the mood to sing soulfully to the Lord and other times I want to shout it out. This is one of those songs.

x

Tomorrow is another video day in the countdown. Stay tuned for more fun! Until then…

Day 5: Third Day’s Angels We Have Heard on High

Third Day’s Angels We Have Heard on High is day five’s contribution to the countdown. Wish I could find a better version where the last note isn’t cut off, but this is one of my favorite versions.

I love to see what contemporary Christian bands do with the old standards. They relate better with the young people and give them a new way to sing to the Lord and find the music to bless others.

I also love how they give the audience a chance to sing. I love to sing, especially these beautiful songs about what God has done. What about you?

x

Tomorrow is another day and another video…until then…

Day 4: Enya’s O Come O Come Emmanuel

Day four of the Video Countdown to CHRISTmas brings us to Enya’s O Come O Come Emmanuel. Angelically beautiful version. I love the choral harmony as well.

I’ve had this one on the countdown for all six years. It just wouldn’t be the Countdown without it.

How many times have we been able to make a joyful noise so beautifully to the Lord? I love to sing along and become one with the choir. By myself, I may sound nice, but with the choir, I feel so much more. Isn’t that the way it is when we come together as brothers and sisters in the Lord?

x

Let’s all come together this day and make a joyful noise unto the Lord in thanks for the gift we have been given.

Day 3: Trans Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Canon/On This Very Night

Here is the Trans Siberian Orchestra’s CHRISTmas Canon and On This Very CHRISTmas Night.

What a blessing these people have in store for those who drive or walk by! We haven’t put up outside lights in several years due to a bad accident my husband had falling off a ladder the last time he did it. And it can be an expensive way to celebrate this joyous HOLYday, but for those who can do so, it gives the rest of us such joy!

Day 2: Selah’s Silent Night

Today’s video in the countdown is a one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. A visual delight as well as a musical one. This is a short ballet to the song Silent Night as sung by Selah. Their rendition is extraordinarily packed with the reverence for the Lord and the video is a sight to behold.

What a wondrous way to stop and think on the Lord and what He has done for us. What He gave up for us. And what He continues to do for us.

Enjoy this gorgeous video as you reflect on the Lord. Tomorrow I’ll have another wonderful video that will help us all keep Christ in our CHRISTmas. Until then…

6th Annual Art of Eloquence Video Countdown to CHRISTmas!

The 6th Annual Art of Eloquence Video Countdown to CHRISTmas starts today!

Music video is a powerful form of communication. We can use it to worship, to express ourselves and to share the love of God. My goal, again, this CHRISTmas is to help put Christ back in our CHRISTmas by sharing 25 of my most favorite CHRISTmas videos with you.

This first one is one I discovered last year called Where’s the Line to See Jesus? It shares my feeling, and that of many other Christians today, that our society has commercialized this blessed holiday to the point were we don’t even know what it’s all about anymore.

Though there are many Christmas movies during this holiday season, there are precious few CHRISTmas movies. Most of the movies these days will acknowledge that the true meaning of CHRISTmas isn’t in the gifts we give and get, but instead of sharing that Jesus is the reason for the season, they tell us that the season is all about family and giving and love and friendship.

Well, it may, indeed, be about that for many, but for Christians, the reason for CHRISTmas is the Christ! I pray the 6th Annual Video Countdown to CHRISTmas will help you keep more of Christ in your CHRISTmas this year.

Reflections on Thankfulness

All month long I’ve been sharing with you how we can become thankful and praise God even in the storm.  There is a saying I’ve seen all month long that gives us some insight as to why:

It’s not happy people who are thankful

It’s thankful people who are happy

I think I’d change one word of this though.  I’d change the word happy to joyful because happiness is dependent upon our circumstances while joy is dependent upon more stable things like the Lord. So here is my version in JoJoism# 370:

If we are able to become thankful for the blessings we have even if we are suffering through painful struggles, we will become joyful.  That is the key to real living even among our most painful struggles.

If you have been struggling recently, especially if you have had multiple struggles or they have been long suffering, what are you thankful for?
