Merry Christmas Everyone!

I love this song! I share it with you on CHRISTmas because CHRISTmas isn’t about Santa or family or presents, but it’s also not just about baby Jesus or the wise men or the manger. It’s about our sin, it’s about God’s love, it’s about the blood that Jesus shed for us.

More than the beginning of the story, it’s about the cross. It’s the ending to the story on Resurrection Sunday that saves us.

CHRISTmas is only the beginning of Jesus’ story. He wasn’t just born for us, but He lived with us and died for us. That’s the love of our Lord and Savoir.

I pray you have had a blessed time this past month leading up to this day. Merry CHRISTmas from all of us here at Art of Eloquence to all of you!

Day 16: Christmas Dreams

Making it’s second appearance here on the AoE video countdown to CHRISTmas is this very spiritual version of Carol of the Bells.

It’s by 2002 Music and from the album CHRISTmas Dreams.

The thing that struck me about this video is the snow. It’s shown in many forms, all beautiful. It reminds me about how different each snowflake is and how different each person is. When it shows the entire world, it reminds me that Christ died not only for me or for those who love Him, but for all of mankind.

Still more to come. Until tomorrow…

Day 12: Carol of the Bells

For the fourth year here on the AoE Countdown to CHRISTmas is an instrumental version (piano) of Carol of The Bells by George Winston. I love the scenes depicted in the video and his version of this song is simply gorgeous.

I could listen to this for hours. I love the way it changes throughout the piece and comes round again. It’s a more creative version than I’ve heard.

We all need to slow down about this time of year, just about ten days out from CHRISTmas to listen to the sounds of CHRISTMas and remember the beauty of what Jesus did.

I’ll have another great video tomorrow. Until then…

Day 11: Hallelujah Chorus

This video is making its third appearance here at the countdown. I was introduced to this two years ago and just had to put it in. Can you imagine being at a mall and having this incredible scene unfold?

This is the Opera Company of Philadelphia signing Hallelujah in one of their Random Acts of Culture. Take a look at the faces of those in the “audience.”

Enjoy!

Day 10: Christmas Laser Light Show

Another excellent version of Amazing Grace in a rock laser show! I’m saving my favorite version of Amazing Grace for later in the countdown, but this one is a wonderful rock version with a fabulous light display.

How many versions there are of some of these songs! Each one is a different interpretation. Just like us! Each one of us sees things slightly differently and has a slightly different testimony and story to tell about our walk with God. Isn’t that wonderful? Each song minsters to a different mood just as each person can minister to a different lost soul.

What an amazing way for God to help us to share with others about Him!

Another wonderful video coming your way tomorrow. Until then..

Day 7: North Point Church’s iBand Christmas

CHRISTmas is a great time to infuse a bit of fun into your life.

Today is Friday Funnies so I wanted to share with you a fun way to celebrate CHRISTmas today. People are always coming up with fun new technological ways to praise the Lord, especially at CHRISTmastime and this church is no exception. This is incredibly creative!

Here is the North Point Church iBand with an all iPhone and iPad CHRISTmas medley! Enjoy!

Have a blessed and fun day today. Tomorrow our countdown will continue. Until then…

Day 5: Third Day’s Angels We Have Heard on High

Third Day’s Angels We Have Heard on High is day five’s contribution to the countdown. Wish I could find a better version where the last note isn’t cut off, but this is one of my favorite versions.

I love to see what contemporary Christian bands do with the old standards. They relate better with the young people and give them a new way to sing to the Lord and find the music to bless others.

I also love how they give the audience a chance to sing. I love to sing, especially these beautiful songs about what God has done. What about you?

x

Tomorrow is another day and another video…until then…

Day 2: Selah’s Silent Night

Today’s video in the countdown is a one of the most beautiful I’ve seen. A visual delight as well as a musical one. This is a short ballet to the song Silent Night as sung by Selah. Their rendition is extraordinarily packed with the reverence for the Lord and the video is a sight to behold.

What a wondrous way to stop and think on the Lord and what He has done for us. What He gave up for us. And what He continues to do for us.

Enjoy this gorgeous video as you reflect on the Lord. Tomorrow I’ll have another wonderful video that will help us all keep Christ in our CHRISTmas. Until then…

6th Annual Art of Eloquence Video Countdown to CHRISTmas!

The 6th Annual Art of Eloquence Video Countdown to CHRISTmas starts today!

Music video is a powerful form of communication. We can use it to worship, to express ourselves and to share the love of God. My goal, again, this CHRISTmas is to help put Christ back in our CHRISTmas by sharing 25 of my most favorite CHRISTmas videos with you.

This first one is one I discovered last year called Where’s the Line to See Jesus? It shares my feeling, and that of many other Christians today, that our society has commercialized this blessed holiday to the point were we don’t even know what it’s all about anymore.

Though there are many Christmas movies during this holiday season, there are precious few CHRISTmas movies. Most of the movies these days will acknowledge that the true meaning of CHRISTmas isn’t in the gifts we give and get, but instead of sharing that Jesus is the reason for the season, they tell us that the season is all about family and giving and love and friendship.

Well, it may, indeed, be about that for many, but for Christians, the reason for CHRISTmas is the Christ! I pray the 6th Annual Video Countdown to CHRISTmas will help you keep more of Christ in your CHRISTmas this year.

National Whiner’s Day

December 26th is National Whiner’s Day.  While you may think this a rather silly holiday, it does give us a reason to talk about one of the most irritating kinds of communication there is: whining.  And it is fitting that it is the day after CHRISTmas.  You see, during the CHRISTmas season, we all try to act a little nicer, be a little kinder and smile and give greetings to those we meet.  The day after CHRISTmas, that’s already long forgotten! lol

Black Friday might be the day we all rush to the stores to grab everything we need to save anything we can. However, National Whiner’s Day is a time to take back all our CHRISTmas gifts that don’t fit, are the wrong color, looked better on the store dummy and we didn’t really want anyway.  Today’s the day we can begin anew complaining and fussing and whining.  Start now and avoid the rush!

Did you know that studies show that whining is one of the most irritating noises?  Just think back to how it affected your parents and how it grates on your nerves when your children do it.

I challenge you this year to keep the feeling CHRISTmas brings all year round.  I challenge you to smile a little more, laugh a little louder, say a few more thank yous, and uplift a few more people all throughout the rest of the year and into 2012.
