Day 19: Hope of the Broken World

Making it’s second appearance this year. This isn’t really a CHRISTmas song, but it’s one of my favorites from the group Selah. It’s called Hope of the Broken World and it speaks of why Jesus was born to die for us. Jesus is salvation, the joy of the earth and the hope of the broken world.

The Glory of the Lord is risen on Resurrection Sunday which we will celebrate in a few months, but first Jesus was born into the the world to be the hope of our salvation.

xx

I’ll have another great video to help us count down the days til CHRISTmas, the celebration of Jesus’ birth to be the hope of the broken world. Until then…

Day 17: Mary Did You Know

Day 17 brings us to an old standard sung two of my very favorite singers: Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd!

Day 16: Christmas Dreams

Making it’s second appearance here on the AoE video countdown to CHRISTmas is this very spiritual version of Carol of the Bells.

It’s by 2002 Music and from the album CHRISTmas Dreams.

The thing that struck me about this video is the snow. It’s shown in many forms, all beautiful. It reminds me about how different each snowflake is and how different each person is. When it shows the entire world, it reminds me that Christ died not only for me or for those who love Him, but for all of mankind.

Still more to come. Until tomorrow…

Day 15: Picture Perfect Christmas Canon

The countdown continues today with another great one from the Trans Siberian Orchestra: CHRISTmas Cannon Rock! A slightly different version than another in the countdown. This one has some beautiful CHRISTmas scenes to share. These scenes are as if out of a picture book.

I love this video. Looking at it makes me think of peaceful times. It fills my heart with the beauty that the Lord created and I love to envision a life filled with peace and beauty.

We all strive for that Picture Perfect CHRISTmas and often fall quite short. Sometimes we don’t achieve it because of circumstances beyond our control. Other times, the fact that we race around in a frenzy to complete the tasks that would create our Picture Perfect CHRISTmas ruins our chances to enjoy it.

You may have noticed that not all of our experiences will be this perfect here on earth because this is a fallen world we live in. Your life may not be picture perfect and you may even be going through some difficult times. This can be especially difficult at CHRISTmastime, but, each day of our lives, we can remember that Jesus was born and died for us so that one day we can be with God where everything WILL be picture perfect.

More to come tomorrow. Until then…

Day 14: I want a hippo for Christmas

Today is Friday Funnies and, coincidentally, there have been a few songs/videos through the years that bring humor to CHRISTmas. Making it’s second appearance on the countdown is the adorable old song, I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas. We don’t do Santa and I know many of you reading don’t either, but this is just an adorable song.

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas is a Christmas novelty song written by John Rox and performed by Gayla Peevey (10 years old at the time) in 1953. The song peaked at number 24 on Billboard magazine’s pop chart in December 1953.

Remember, too, to have fun and build memories with your family this CHRISTmas. It’s important to communicate what you want-even if others may think it’s silly.

Day 13: Celine Dion’s Oh Holy Night

Celine Dion’s version of O Holy Night has been on the AoE countdown for the entire six years. Her voice is simply incredible and this version is my favorite.

Some people are blessed with some talent and others are drenched in it. What a treasure that they share it with us!

If you know someone with an incredible talent for something who is sharing it with you this CHRISTmas, make sure you thank them and God for bringing it to you.

Day 12: Carol of the Bells

For the fourth year here on the AoE Countdown to CHRISTmas is an instrumental version (piano) of Carol of The Bells by George Winston. I love the scenes depicted in the video and his version of this song is simply gorgeous.

I could listen to this for hours. I love the way it changes throughout the piece and comes round again. It’s a more creative version than I’ve heard.

We all need to slow down about this time of year, just about ten days out from CHRISTmas to listen to the sounds of CHRISTMas and remember the beauty of what Jesus did.

I’ll have another great video tomorrow. Until then…

Day 11: Hallelujah Chorus

This video is making its third appearance here at the countdown. I was introduced to this two years ago and just had to put it in. Can you imagine being at a mall and having this incredible scene unfold?

This is the Opera Company of Philadelphia signing Hallelujah in one of their Random Acts of Culture. Take a look at the faces of those in the “audience.”

Enjoy!

Day 10: Christmas Laser Light Show

Another excellent version of Amazing Grace in a rock laser show! I’m saving my favorite version of Amazing Grace for later in the countdown, but this one is a wonderful rock version with a fabulous light display.

How many versions there are of some of these songs! Each one is a different interpretation. Just like us! Each one of us sees things slightly differently and has a slightly different testimony and story to tell about our walk with God. Isn’t that wonderful? Each song minsters to a different mood just as each person can minister to a different lost soul.

What an amazing way for God to help us to share with others about Him!

Another wonderful video coming your way tomorrow. Until then..
