Radio has come a long way since 1922!

All this month, I’ve been writing about communication technology as we celebrate Effective Communications Month and tomorrow is the anniversary of the 1st presidential radio speech.  On June 14th, 1922, President Warren G. Harding, while addressing a crowd at the dedication of a memorial site for the composer of the “Star Spangled Banner,” Francis Scott Key, becomes the first president to have his voice transmitted by radio.

Technology has come a long way since then, and today, anyone can have a radio show expressing their political, religious or other views thanks to the communication technology called TalkShoe

If you’ve been a blog reader for a while, you might remember that I used to have a weekly internet radio show called Grace Talk Soup.  I loved the creativity of the weekly show, but when my cohost had to leave, I knew it was time to scale back and now I do a monthly audio seminar or panel instead.

In fact, today at 2pm PST, I’m going to interview my good friend, Joan Rudder-Ward.  She’ll share her experiences with racism accusations she says illustrate that society has come to a point where we are so quick to call people racists that we may damage our relationships or miss out on some wonderful people along the way. Join us online: http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/19736 or via phone: 724) 444-7444 Call ID: 19736  Catch it live or risk Gundar (The Technology Gremlin) not allowing me to archive the audio after the show.

Whether you use TalkShoe, BlogTalkRadio or any number of other fabulous venues, anyone can start their own radio show.  Why would you want to?

* Share your political beliefs and affect change.

* Share the Gospel or discuss important religious issues to serve the Lord.

* Share tips and teach a valuable skill or interest to others.

* Fellowship, entertain and have fun with like-minded people.

What’s the downside of having your own radio show so accessible?

Any time something is so easy any monkey can do it, you’re bound to find that several monkeys do.  There is a great deal of fabulous info on the internet and some really awful stuff as well.  The same is true of internet radio.  But on the whole, it’s a blessing to have this technology available to us even if it forces us to be more discerning.  And maybe that’s a really good thing anyway.  What say you?

June is Effective Communication Month

June is Effective Communication Month!  I found that out because my computer was electronically communicating with the world wide web the other day and I happened across a holiday website that told me so.  So…in honor of Effective Communication Month, I’m going to be posting about the areas of our every day lives that are affected by communication skills and giving you all some tips for each one.  Each day will focus on a different area of life.

I actually wanted to post an audio from a seminar I gave this past week. Unfortunately, TalkShoe didn’t work and play well with others that day.  There was some miscommunication between my technology and their technology and, well, it wasn’t pretty.  I’m working on re-recording it so I can have that for you later on this month.  Please pray the Technology Gremlins will keep their distance or that I can locate my Techno Gremlin Bug-Off Spray!

I thought I’d start Effective Communication Month out by sharing a fun video I found on YouTube of the history of communication technology.

By the way, June 1st is also Say Something Nice Day.  So please leave a comment!  ;D

Art of Eloquence’s Seminar Schedule for 2011

Art of Eloquence is all about sharing the Communication FUNdamentals and we do that each year in creative and unique ways.  Though we do sell a variety of eBooks and digital products that teach preschoolers through adults various topics within speech communication, we are mostly a ministry.  That is to say, we give away a TON of information and free gifts each year.

One of the ways we love to serve is by hosting various seminars throughout the year on the Art of Eloquence Workshop and Seminar Channel on TalkShoe!  We are planning a fabulous line up of seminars and workshops featuring a variety of co hosts and panels of speakers to help you become more effective communicators both in your personal and business life.  We have already scheduled some amazing topics and speakers for the first half of the year.  Take a look at what is coming up in 2011!

Join me tomorrow morning for a preview!

You all just HAVE to listen in to this!  Tomorrow morning 8am PST/11am EST is a very special preview of the 5th Annual Say What You Mean Convention coming on February 3rd, 2010!  If you are not familiar with the convention, you can check out last year’s here!

The convention is an annual online event celebrating and teaching the fine Art of Eloquence in the style of the Great Communicator, Ronald Reagan!  Art of Eloquence finds, as Reagan did, that communicating in a godly way using humor goes a long way!  We celebrate communication around The Great Communicator’s birthday each year with an all day series of live and recorded events, contests, prizes, prayer chat, workshops and seminars.

This year our Keynote Speakers are Christian Comedian, Michael Jr and Cindy Rushton of Talk A Latte!

The preview show will introduce you to the convention, share with you what you can expect to find at the convention this year and give you a brief education about the Three Flavors of Communication: Writing, Speech and Conversation, this year’s convention theme!   You will also meet myself and my two moderators: Kim Kautzer of WriteShop and Joan Rudder Ward of Girl Nurture who will be sharing their expertise along with me at the convention in February.

As a very special part of the preview show, we will be joined by Cindy Rushton and perhaps even Michael Jr too, if time permits him to call in!

Here’s how you can tune in to the show:

You can either call in:

Phone Number: (724) 444-7444
Call ID: 19736

Or you can log on using your computer:

You can also sign up for your own TalkShoe account (It’s free and takes only a few minutes) so that you can not only listen in, but join the chatroom as well!

Don’t miss out on this live show!  It’s my FINAL PODCAST and you will want to be there to join the fun and even ask questions of my guests either about the Say What You Mean Convention or their expertise in their fields.  Join us and be blessed!!!
