Day 9 of the Countdown to CHRISTmas-I Want a Hippopotamus

Today is Friday Funnies and, coincidentally, there have been a few songs/videos through the years that bring humor to CHRISTmas.  Making it's debut on the countdown is the adorable old song, I Want a Hippopotomus for Christmas.  We don't do Santa and I know many of you reading don't either, but this is just an adorable song. I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas is a Christmas novelty song written by John Rox and performed by Gayla Peevey (10 years old at the time) in 1953. The song peaked at number 24 on Billboard magazine's pop chart in December 1953. Remember, too, to have fun and build memories with your family this CHRISTmas.  It's important to communicate what you want-even if others may think it's silly. Our local Christian Radio station plays this during Christmas time. It is nice to hear, but they don’t rotate enough Christmas songs for my liking, they play the same 50 or so over and over. We’ve heard it a lot lately.

    Me neither. It’s such fun.

Oh my! I haven’t heard that in MANY years. Cute! You think they’d bring this one out more at Christmas since it’s “different.” LOL

I agree, Dawn. My local station plays the same things over and over. Mostly secular CHRISTmas songs about Santa and snow. That’s part of the reason I do the countdown. So I can hear all the great CHRISTmas music whenever I like.

Thanks Chris. I’m glad you liked it.
